Handwritten notes on Robb dressmaking
These handwritten notes describe the process of making the mother-of-the-groom dress for Mrs. Frances Howard Robb, for the wedding of her son Charles Robb to Lynda Bird Johnson, daughter of President Lyndon B. Johnson, at the White House on December 9, 1967. Sister Aloyse Hessburg designed and created the dress and related items (hat, wedding souvenir, etc.), and Sister Rosemarita Huebner made the buttons. -

Note from Sister Aloyse Hessburg: "Blue knit pile fabric by Borg Textile Group, a Wisconsin industry. They challenged the senior class in 1970 to create garments 'for a winter evening' using their fabric. Christee selected this fabric (at that time the most flexible of their line) and used the silk fabric bodice and lining of silk crepe. The fur closure hooks were the only available on short notice. (Industry would have had time to get correct size and color.)
