    Designed by the donor, Jan Carter Osterholm, a Mount Mary alumna, while working for Andrea Polizzi.
  • Black wool felt breton hat; upturned part of brim is covered in strip of black velvet; brim is wider in front; hot pink headsize band; not lined.
  • White, black, and beige woven synthetic straw picture hat; woven white and beige grosgrain ribbon with black velvet ribbon hatband; Label says "For Joline '66".

Gold lamé evening gown; rose motifs outlined in pearls, bugle beads and diamontes; sleeveless; slight scoop front neckline, dipping to lower scoop in back; long panel attached at back shoulders. B. Royal blue velvet stole; 18 x 118 inches. Gown and stole form performance ensemble worn by Hildegarde.
  • Black peau de soie and velvet evening gown; strapless; stiff brassiere understructure; boned midriff; wide velvet trim over skirt at waistline forming tunic look; draping at right side; slimming through waist; train in back; two sets of zippers, one for skirt and one for back bodice. Worn as a performance gown by Hildegarde.
  • A. Mauve silk charmeuse evening gown; trimmed in burgundy silk velvet at neckline and armscyes; plunging neckline at front and back; sleeveless; bias cut; mermaid silhouette; unlined; ankle length. B. Burgundy velvet belt; lined with mauve silk charmeuse; ties at side.

    According to Sister Aloyse Hessburg, this gown is a copy of the bronze gown by Chauvel (2012.01.51.AB). This gown is attributed to "Cafe de Paris in London by Ilene Adair."

    Worn with overblouse (Object ID #1996.309.A) and skirt (Object ID #1996.309.B) to form three piece ensemble.

  • One shoulder purple velvet and taffeta gown; shoulder strap on left, built-in corset of black mesh, taffeta over-drape covering the bust and creating a large skirt to the right side, taffeta drape lined in clear polyester mesh to stiffen, left side zipper, bow on shoulder and on right side of skirt at the hip, ankle length. Line across the skirt where it probably draped across a hanger.
  • Monastic style black silk velvet evening gown; jewel neckline edged with black cording, long dolman sleeves, empire waist, cording runs through thread carriers at waistline, extended with shirring at wrist, A-line skirt, full evening length. Hand over-cast & hand finished. Lots of small tears throughout, some of which have been patched or mended. Worn by Valentina.
  • Black silk faille strapless evening gown; two turned-back triangular pieces above bust have hand-appliquéd velvet leaves, natural waist with horizontal and vertical seaming, darts and boning in bodice, full-length flared skirt has in-seam side front pockets. Completely hand-overcast and finished. Worn with black faille bolero. Worn by Valentina.
  • Black silk satin cardigan evening coat with large cut velvet flower design; neck built up, no front closure, single welt inseam pockets, straight short sleeves, flange down center back, underlined with silk organza, completely hand-overcast and finished. Worn by Valentina. Possibly 1940s fabric re-made into a coat.
  • Black silk brocade and velvet pelerine evening capelet; floral jacquard with clipped velvet design accented with jet beads. Lined with silk velvet, forms deep front facings. Edge between jacquard and velvet beaded with sequins and jet caviar beads on netting.

    Antique Spanish capelet or shawl often worn by Valentina to complement her own garments. Likely served as an inspiration for wraps and shawls she designed.
  • Dark red silk velvet bolero jacket. Standing collar, asymmetrical front closure with a hook and eye. Front is cut on the bias. Long straight sleeves, square set into the armscye. Double hand-overcasting at hemlines. Worn by Valentina.
